BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Last week the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team placed 11th overall in the International SWAT Round-Up Competition in Orlando, Florida.

The annual competition involved 42 SWAT Teams from around the world who all came to Central Florida with the intent to claim the title of SWAT Round-Up Champion.

SWAT Round-Up is an international event that includes training and team competition as SWAT teams from around the world come together to network, train and compete.

The competition includes five team events that focus on real-world scenarios challenging each team’s physical abilities, stamina, marksmanship, and teamwork.

The competition event is geared for simulation of real-life scenarios and is intended to challenge the team members to work together as a unit.

The various events place a strong emphasis on weapon expertise, physical fitness, resource utilization, and teamwork.

While the competition is a fun part of the event, the training and education program are a vital component of the SWAT Round-Up experience as the training is conducted by nationally renowned instructors who are teaching SWAT Operators to save lives.

This year our team got off to a rough start in the competition phase, as the first event didn’t go so well for the team, setting them back to 36th overall after the first round.

Refusing to give up, the team focused on the remaining events and climbed their way back into contention by placing 11th in the second event and in the top ten for the remaining three events.

Through hard work and commitment, the team ultimately finished the competition in 11th place out of 42 teams from across the globe.

I could not be more proud of our SWAT Team members for placing so high in this international competition and for their dedication to protect our citizens.

When you consider that they competed against teams from all over the world and placed 11th overall, it is a true testament of their abilities, strength and commitment as a team to protect our community.

Please join me in congratulating our team members listed below and in thanking them for keeping us safe each and every day:
