The Mustangs (11-1) and Scorpions (10-2) are both coming off big second-round playoff wins and will face off for the second time this season. Merritt Island defeated the Scorpions 26-7 in week 9 of the regular season as the Mustangs allowed 233 offensive yards – with 167 through the air and 66 yards on the ground.

Senior Quarterback Brady Denaburg finished the game with an efficient 258 passing yards and 103.2 Quarterback Rating. The defense really put the pressure on in their last matchup, totaling 44 tackles and 4 sacks against Rockledge.

Merritt Island enters this matchup after defeating Rockledge 21-6 last week for the second time this season.

POSTGAME COVERAGE: Merritt Island advances to regional final after 21-6 win over the Rockledge Raiders. The Friday Night Locker Room’s Orville Susong and Steve Wilson present the Player of the Game plaque.

Satellite look for redemption after the Mustangs left a bad taste in their mouth the last time these two played on Scorpion field in week 9.

The Scorps are coming off a 28-14 second-round playoff win against Bishop Moore.

Defensively, Satellite was able to contain the Mustangs offense for most of the game. The Scorps nearly had double the amount of tackles than Merritt Island with 77 and were able to total four sacks in the victory.

Coach Kimmey and his Scorpions need to have a better offensive outing than last time, only one touchdown through 4 quarters won’t be enough to get it done. (Satellite Scorpions Football image)

Coach Kimmey and his Scorpions need to have a better offensive showing than the last game against Merritt Island to advance to the state semifinal, which only accounted for one touchdown in the 20-7 loss to the Mustangs.

The winner of this game will advance to the Class 5A State Semifinals and play the winner of Baker County and Wakulla.

Space Coast Sports Hall of Famers Steve Wilson and Orville Susong of the Friday Night Locker Room will once again bring you all the live action from the broadcast booth.
