Motorist in Reported Stolen Vehicle Dies After Collision With Motorhome on I-95 near Port St. John

A motorist in Brevard County has died after a fatal crash on I-95 near Port St. John on Saturday.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A motorist of a reported stolen vehicle in Brevard County has died after a fatal crash on I-95 near Port St. John on Saturday.

Florida Highway Patrol says the investigation has revealed that the driver of a 2019 Chevy Malibu was traveling northbound on I-95 when a driver in a motorhome, hauling a U-Haul trailer, rear ended the Malibu near mile marker 208.

Following the collision, the Malibu traveled off the interstate and into a ditch.

Investigators say the driver of the Malibu then exited the vehicle and collapsed, where he was later pronounced dead at Rockledge Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the motorhome stated to authorities that the Chevy Malibu vehicle appeared to be stopped in the middle lane of I-95 when the motorhome struck the vehicle.

The identity of the driver in the Chevy Malibu has not yet been released.

State troopers later discovered that the Chevy Malibu was reported stolen prior to the crash.

FHP is continuing to investigate the crash.
