OBITUARY: U.S. Navy and D-Day Veteran, Chester Reid Norris, 96, of Cocoa Beach, Passes Away

Chester was drafted out of High School at age 18

Chester Reid Norris passed away with his family at his side on November 18, 2021. Chet was born on October 31, 1925, in Wellesley Falls, Massachusetts.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Chester Reid Norris passed away with his family at his side on November 18, 2021. Chet was born on October 31, 1925, in Wellesley Falls, Massachusetts.

Chet was a Navy Veteran and extremely proud to have been a part of D-Day. He was drafted out of High School at age 18 to help protect the great United States of America. For many years he attended reunions with his shipmates from the LST309.

He graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology and University of Massachusetts with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1956. His engineering talents were employed by Arma Corp., NASA and The Aerospace Corp.

He leaves behind his love, Mary and their six children, Michael (Laurie), Patrick (Anne), Kelly Anne (Walter), Reid (Kimberli), Sean and Deirdre (Geoff), his grandkids, Carolina, Miles, Kelly, Sam, Molly, Valeska, Reid, Delanie, and Keira.

Chet is sorely missed by family, friends, and all his doggies (and sometimes cats). The funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Church of Our Saviour, Cocoa Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his name to ASPCA, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and St. Francis Reflections.
