WATCH: Cocoa Police Officer Jason Collins recently responded to a call from a frustrated grandmother asking for help with her pre-teen grandson whom she is raising. What followed turned into a sequence of events that positively impacted the life of this child and his grandmother, and shows what effective community policing is all about.
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police Officer Jason Collins recently responded to a call from a frustrated grandmother asking for help with her pre-teen grandson whom she is raising.
What followed turned into a sequence of events that positively impacted the life of this child and his grandmother, and shows what effective community policing is all about.
“Officer Collins sought no publicity for his actions,” said Cocoa police officials.
“But, because we believe his actions exemplify our mission and purpose, we sought him out, so he could tell the story of how a small investment of time and caring can make an enormous impact on this child’s life.”
