41-Year-Old Melbourne Man Dies After Vehicle Strikes Him While Walking Across Courtenay Pkwy. in Merritt Island

A 41-year-old Melbourne man has died after a vehicle struck him Saturday night while he was walking in a designated crosswalk on Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A 41-year-old Melbourne man has died after a vehicle struck him Saturday night while he was walking in a designated crosswalk on Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island.

State troopers say the crash happened around 11 p.m. when a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Melbourne man was traveling northbound on Courtenay Pkwy. in the right, through lane.

The pedestrian then attempted to walk eastbound in the designated crosswalk on Courtenay Parkway before he was struck.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash still remains under investigation
