Man Killed in Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Crash in Front of Shore Lanes On Merritt Island

FHP: Man was attempting to cross the road and walked into the direct path of the vehicle

The Florida Highway Patrol was on the scene of a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian crash Wednesday night about 9:50 p.m., according to FHP spokesperson Lt.Kim Montes.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol was on the scene of a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian crash Wednesday night about 9:50 p.m., according to FHP spokesperson Lt.Kim Montes.

According to Lt. Montes, a 20-year-old woman driving a 2013 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on N. Courtenay Parkway in front of Shore Lanes Bowling Alley when an adult male was attempting to cross the roadway, from the west to the east, and walked into the direct path of the vehicle.

The front of of the Honda Civic struck the victim, whose identity has not yet been released by authorities.

Lt. Montes said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the incident remains under investigation.
