Melbourne Police Department Donates $10,000 from Law Enforcement Trust Fund to Non-Profit Organization

Donated money was seized throughout 2020 from narcotic investigations

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department donated $10,000 recently from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund to local non-profit organizations.
The money had been seized throughout 2020 from narcotic investigations.
The Florida LETF requires a percentage of these funds to be spent in the community for non-profit organizations that promote programs addressing drug abuse education, drug treatment, drug prevention, crime prevention, or safe neighborhoods.
All of the organizations submitted proposals and after the selection process was completed, each organization received $1,000 work towards their projects.
Chief David Gillespie, Deputy Chief Waltemeyer, and the Department’s Command Staff presented each organization with the checks. In total, the Melbourne Police Department donated $10,000.

■ Beck Lemstrom – Women’s Center of South Brevard, Inc.
■ Addie Brooks – Taking Real Action Dressing for Employment, Inc. (TRADE)
■ Addie Brooks & Joe McNeil – Concerned Citizens Committee of South Brevard, Inc. (CCCSB)
■ Joe McNeil – South Brevard County Task Force, Inc. (SBCTF)
■ Terri Smith – Helps Community Initiatives, Inc. (HCI)
■ Ramone Hemphill – The 99th Squadron, Inc.
■ Lynn Brockwell- Carey – The Evans Center
