Melbourne Police outline details on the officer-involved shooting December 3 on the Florida Tech campus that resulted in the death of a knife wielding suspect.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police outline details on the officer-involved shooting December 3 on the Florida Tech campus that resulted in the death of a knife wielding suspect.

The suspect has been identified as Florida Tech student 18-year-old Alhaji M. Sow from Riverdale, Georgia.

The initial 911 call provided information that the suspect was assaulting students.

Police say the investigation has shown Sow was acting erratic and was on the college campus attacking multiple students.

The Melbourne Police Department is releasing the 911 calls received during this incident.

The incident was captured on the Melbourne Police Officer’s body worn camera (BWC); however, due to the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement it will be released at a later time.

The identities of the Melbourne Police Officer and the F.I.T. Security Officer involved in this incident are not being released at this time.
