BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Wreaths Across America event took place at J. N. Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Melbourne on Saturday.
After a brief program, a wreath was placed at the headstone of veterans buried at the cemetery.
Friday Night Locker Room’s Orville Susong and Steve Wilson were on hand, and will read the names of Veterans buried at J. S. Stone Memorial Cemetery and J. N. Tucker Cemetery in Melbourne.
The wreath-laying ceremony was part of Wreaths Across America.
Wreaths Across America, a nationwide program which distributes holiday wreaths as a tribute to Veterans laid to rest at VA national cemeteries and state Veterans cemeteries.
All 136 VA national cemeteries receive at least seven wreaths, one for each service branch, one for Merchant Marine and one for Prisoners of War and those Missing In Action (POW/MIA).
Through this program, participating organizations recognize Veterans, active duty military and their families.
The goal is to remind the public at this time of year to remember Veterans, to honor their service, and to teach children the value of freedom.
