Firefighters Rescue Dog After Inferno Engulfs Merritt Island Home on Artemis Blvd.

One person hospitalized, one dog rescued

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene of a house fire on the 400 block of Artemis Blvd. that resulted in the successful rescue of a dog who was in the home when the fire broke out.

Officials say “one person was transported to the hospital for an evaluation with an unspecified condition.”

Firefighters arrived on scene around 2:50 a.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a house fire.

Once on scene, rescue crews worked to extinguish the blaze and rescued a dog who became entrapped inside the home after firefighters conducted a search of the home for any occupants.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross was called in to assist after the home suffered significant damage, according to BCFR official.
