BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Grand Jury indicted 29-year-old Hector Javier Solis for First Degree Felony Murder, and Aggravated Child Abuse, in connection with the death of his six-month old daughter Amishadai Solis.

On December 17, 2021, at just after 6:30 pm, Solis called 9-11 and reported he was driving his unconscious and unresponsive child to the hospital.

Dispatchers directed him to Palm Bay City Hall to get immediate assistance from Brevard County Fire Department, who found her not breathing and transported Amishadai to Palm Bay Hospital.

She was later transferred to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando where she was placed on life-support and died on December 19, 2021.

Palm Bay Police spoke with Solis who told them that earlier that day, he had been at home at 2784 Snapdragon Dr. NW, and Amishadai was crying for the longest time and wouldn’t stop. Further that he had gotten frustrated and began shaking her.

When she became unresponsive he placed her in the car and called 9-11. Solis was arrested at the scene and charged with Aggravated Child Abuse. However, the additional charge of murder was added after Amishadai died.

The Brevard Medical Examiner ruled the child’s death a homicide and the result of Shaken Baby Syndrome.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Palm Bay Police Investigator and the Brevard Medical Examiner before returning with the indictment.

Solis is being held on No Bond at the Brevard County Jail and no trial date has been set in this case.
