JUNO BEACH, FLORIDA – Florida Power & Light Company received the highest ranking in residential service among large electric utilities in the southern U.S., according to the J.D. Power 2021 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM released in December.
J.D. Power’s annual study measures electric utilities based on surveys of their customers. FPL ranked number one in the following study categories: power quality and reliability; price; billing and payment; corporate citizenship; and communications.
“This is a tremendous honor to be named the best utility in the South for the second year in a row,” said Eric Silagy, president and CEO of FPL.
“As our customers are still affected by the global pandemic, this honor is a testament to the dedication of our entire team who serve our 5.6 million customers throughout Florida. We’re honored to be recognized by the customers who rely on us to provide them with reliable and clean energy at an affordable cost. We work tirelessly to operate efficiently through long-term planning and cost-saving measures that benefit our customers.”

The 2021 study marks the second year in a row and the third time (the first was in 2016) FPL has achieved the top ranking in its region, which includes electric utilities in 10 southern states with more than 500,000 customers.
The study’s rankings are based on survey responses from more than 100,000 utility customers across the country.
