Dave came to Brevard County in 1966 and attended Cocoa High School

David R. Davis passed away December 13, 2021 at his residence. He attended Cocoa High School and was a member of its swim team. Dave was also known for his pitching skills with Cocoa Babe Ruth League. He joined the United States Air Force in 1980 and served as a B-52 Crew Chief for the 2nd Bomb Wing. He started his own business in 2015, A Wine of a Kind, designing and building creative products from reclaimed wine barrels.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – David R. Davis passed away December 13, 2021 at his residence.

Dave was born in Wichita, KS and came to Brevard County in 1966. He attended Cocoa High School and was a member of its swim team. Dave was also known for his pitching skills with Cocoa Babe Ruth League.

He joined the United States Air Force in 1980 and served as a B-52 Crew Chief for the 2nd Bomb Wing. Dave returned to Brevard County after his military service and worked as a waiter and later as manager in many area restaurants, including Bernard Surf, Rusty’s, Chowders and River Rocks.

Dave started his own business in 2015, A Wine of a Kind, designing and building creative products from reclaimed wine barrels. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and spending time with his dogs.

Survivors include his dogs Chloe and Belle; sisters, Jeanne Proferes and Kathy Maughn; nephews Nicholas Proferes and Andrew Maughn; niece Dana Maughn; and many many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at River Rocks restaurant in Rockledge, Florida.
