Palm Bay Police Detective Scott Searles Retires After 28 Years of Dedicated Service

Palm Bay Police Detective Scott Searles has retired after 28 years of dedicated service to his community. Throughout Detective Searles’ 28-year career, he has been assigned as a Field Training Officer and has spent the last 17 years in the Investigations Division. (PBPD image)

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Detective Scott Searles has retired after 28 years of dedicated service to his community.

“Congratulations are in order for Detective Searles, who after today, will step into the life of retirement,” said Palm Bay Police Department officials.

“Detective Searles has served over 28 years of dedicated and selfless service to the citizens of Palm Bay.”

Throughout Detective Searles’ 28-year career with the Palm Bay Police Department, he has been assigned as a Field Training Officer and has spent the last 17 years in the Investigations Division.

He has been assigned to the Major Case Unit, Homicide Unit and General Crimes Unit. Towards the end of his career, he worked frauds and economic crimes, dealing mostly with elderly victims.

Detective Searles was also a member of the Underwater Recovery Team for 26 years, assisting in countless search and rescue missions. He has worked in an on-call capacity for 26 straight years. He was also named Officer of the Year in 2001.

“His commitment to the department by seeking justice for the victims was always his highest priority,” said Palm Bay Police Department officials.

“He established relationships with multiple neighboring jurisdictions to include the State Attorney’s Office. The Palm Bay Police Department will continue to reap the rewards of that relationship after his retirement because of his continued professionalism.”
