SHERIFF WAYNE IVEY: “…in Brevard County we have zero tolerance for crime.”

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office released a video on Wednesday that featured Sheriff Wayne Ivey announcing that a America’s Best Value Inn in Satellite Beach is being placed on the BCSO H.I.T. (High Intensity Target) list after deputies have responded to over 400 calls over the past year at the hotel.

Below is a transcript of the video released on Wednesday.

Hello everyone, I’m Sheriff Wayne Ivey of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and behind me is America’s Best Value Inn in Satellite Beach. This property, that is owned and operated by GNB Properties, Inc., has now officially made the Sheriff’s High Intensity Target (H.I.T) list!

Folks this hotel…if you want to call it that, it’s registered agent/vice president, and the overwhelming majority of the people in it, are a constant disruption and nuisance to the neighbors, the surrounding businesses, the tourists, and the citizens in this area, and to be honest…your taxpayer dollars, as our agency has now responded to well over 400 calls for service at this one address in the past year and 36 calls for service already this month.

Now think about that for a minute…over 400 times our Deputies, Agents, Animal Enforcement Officers, and team members have had to respond to this hotel for various complaints that have taken them away from being able to protect the remainder of this community, just because the majority of the people who rent a room here or frequent this hotel can’t obey the law.

In fact, even the hotel’s registered agent currently faces a criminal charge of Grand Theft over $5,000 and less than $10,000 for stealing a patron’s backpack containing cash and a phone that occurred in June of last year!

To give you an example of the nuisance this hotel has become, in the past year our agency has responded to this exact location for 60 plus disturbance calls, 10 overdoses, 4 Narcan deployments, 13 animal complaints, 12 battery cases, 46 injured or ill calls, 35 suspicious person or vehicle calls, 6 fugitives, and 30 trespassing calls just to name a few!!

In addition, our team has made “boo koo” arrests at this address as the operators have fostered an environment of lawlessness and do absolutely nothing to cooperate with law enforcement. In fact, I even previously met with the registered agent/vice president in an effort to address the issue and cautioned him to stop allowing the illegal activity at his hotel or our team and I would stop it for him.

Well as you can see from the significant number of calls and issues we have had here, the agent/operator didn’t listen to my warning, so congratulations America’s Best and GNB Properties, you and this location have now made it onto the Sheriff’s High Intensity Target list.

Enough is enough, as the other business owners and neighbors in this area have had it with the criminal activity at this place and I can assure you that I have had it with the wasting of taxpayer dollars on responding to issues and crimes at this hotel.

Now as you well know, I have never been shy about telling people that we target criminals since they target our citizens, so this is what we are gonna do…say hello to your new neighbor, our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Mobile Command Post. That’s right, with permission of the land owner, and in order to ensure the safety of our community, our Mobile Command Post is being set up on the piece of property right next to your hotel and is gonna be our new BCSO Substation!!

Starting right now, our substation is going to be America’s Best, next-door neighbor and our video cameras…yep you guessed it…they are going to lawfully capture pretty much any criminal activity that takes place on or around the premises.

Starting right now every single person that comes to this place and their actions in the public areas of the property, will be under surveillance and also all of the neighboring businesses and residences are sharing THEIR videos with us as well so we can see exactly what type of criminals we are dealing with!!

So here is a little memo for anyone thinking about visiting this place to buy drugs, beat your spouse, endanger a child, harm a pet, or just to try and steal someone’s property…you may want to rethink your visit, because if you show up at America’s Best Value Inn in Satellite Beach with the thought of committing a crime, there is a relatively good chance that you just made yourself a target of our agency!

They say that crime will rise to the level a community will tolerate and in Brevard County we have zero tolerance for crime so if you break the law in our county you are going to jail!

Now knock this crap off and stop being a drain on society, if you stay at or frequent this address you need to start behaving like decent, law abiding citizens that make our community better, not worse!! In fact, let me be very clear…if you visit here and you want to keep visiting here instead of the Brevard County Jail, then stop breaking the law!

If you plan to stay here and follow the law, we invite you to do so and to enjoy our beaches and all that Brevard has to offer, but if you can’t obey the law you probably need to stay out of Brevard County!

GNB Properties Inc. and its officers had a chance to avoid this and I guess you all thought I was joking…well I never joke about crime and protecting our community so start working with us and be part of the solution instead of being part of the problem.

Just keep fostering criminal activity at this location and see where it gets you, cause the neighbors are tired of you, the local business owners are tired of you, I’m tired of you, and you can rest assured our Deputies are tired of you…so clean it up!
