18-Month-Old Missing Child Found Dead in Indian River Near Grant-Valkaria

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation that occurred January 27, 2022, at a residence on US Highway 1 in Grant.

BREVARD COUNTY • GRANT, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation that occurred January 27, 2022, at a residence on US Highway 1 in Grant-Valkaria.

Deputies were called to the residence at around 11:15 a.m. after the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing child.

When deputies arrived on scene, they met with the caller who advised that an 18-month-old child was missing from the residence.

Authorities conducted a search in the area that led to the discovery of the child near the residence in the Indian River.

Lifesaving measures were immediately initiated and the child was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the victim at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
