Eastern Florida State National Championship Women’s Soccer Team Recognized by Board of Trustees

Titans finished the season 10-2-3 overall record

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The accolades continue to come for the Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team.

The program won its first NJCAA Division I National Championship in the fall and on Monday the team was recognized by the Eastern Florida State College Board of Trustees.

Eastern Florida State College President James H. Richey congratulated the team for their accomplishments both on and off the field this season during the Board of Trustees meeting on the Melbourne campus.

The players and coaches were each recognized and had pictures taken with the president.

The Titans finished the season 10-2-3 and played their best soccer in the national championship tournament. The defense allowed just two goals in the final 10 games and only one goal in the tournament and handed Tyler Junior College its first loss in 52 games for the title.

Midfielder Laura Cetina was named the United Soccer Coaches 2021 Women’s Soccer Junior College National Player of the Year and was named to the United Soccer Coaches first-team All-America Team with teammates Jessica DeBiasse and Kirsty Woodacre, who was also named the Defensive Player of the Tournament at the national tournament.

Midfielder Kurumi Arakawa was the 10th NJCAA Division I first-team All-America selection in program history.

Off the field, the team excelled in the classroom as well, finishing the fall semester with a 3.75-grade point average.

In November the team was recognized by the City of Palm Bay for their achievements as Mayor Rob Medina congratulated the team during a city council meeting.
