Edgewood Girls Soccer Defeats Bishop Verot 3-0, Advances to Class 3A Regional Final

The undefeated Edgewood Red Wolves girls soccer team continued their historic run this season after defeating Bishop Verot 3-0 in the FHSAA Class 3A regional semifinal on Friday.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The undefeated Edgewood Red Wolves girls soccer team continued their historic run this season after defeating Bishop Verot 3-0 in the FHSAA Class 3A regional semifinal on Friday.

The Red Wolves now advance to the Class 3A State Regional Final where they will face Benjamin High School at Palm Beach Gardens on Tuesday.

Edgewood head coach Al-Shabbai had this to say after the match, “We scored our first goal in the first half then added two goals in the second. We dominated the game but had many chances in this game and we should have finished better.”

The goal scorers in Friday’s regional semifinal game against Bishop Verot were:

■ Freshman, Gigi Lopez

■ Sophomore, Nina Lopez

■ Sophomore, Andrea Toledo

The Red Wolves’ next opponent Benjamin High School boasts a record of 14-1-1 and just shut out Cardinal Mooney in the regional semifinal 3-0.

Both teams are set to face-off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
