BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Edgewood girls soccer team lost 0-1 against the Benjamin Buccaneers in the final seconds of the Class 3A Regional Final on Tuesday.
The Red Wolves entered this match undefeated but faced adversity almost immediately. One of Edgewood’s top talent Piper Miller went down with an injury in the early minutes of the contest.
The Buccaneers went on to score in the final 20 minutes of the game, advancing Benjamin to the State Semi-Finals.
Edgewood had a magical year and relied on their youthful talent to propel them to a season that is one of the program’s best teams in school history.

Edgewood Coach Eddie Al-Shihabi, in his first year as the girls’ head coach after a long career coaching the boys’ team, has brought his aggressive pass-and-move philosophy to the squad, along with a new offensive mindset that shines through clearly in the field of play.
The team is also having a lot of fun scoring goals this year after having outscored their opposition by a combined 69-11 this year.
Edgewood concludes their 2021-22 season with an 18-1 overall record.
