Crash happened on U.S. Hwy. 1 and Tilkwade Lane

A 69-year-old Cocoa man was killed after a rear-end crash with a garbage truck on U.S. Hwy. 1 and Tilkwade Lane in Cocoa, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – A 69-year-old Cocoa man was killed after a rear-end crash with a garbage truck on U.S. Hwy. 1 and Tilkwade Lane in Cocoa, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers were on the scene of the fatal crash that occurred Thursday morning at 9:55 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the garbage truck was stopped in the right lane due to mechanical issues and the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was traveling south driving a sedan when, for an unknown reason, failed to stop and rear-ended the garbage truck.

The victim was pronounced dead after being transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center.
