BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech Panthers Softball’s Alex Hendrian has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week.

This is the first career SSC Pitcher of the Week award for the Aurora, Co. native.

Hendrian had an impressive performance in the Panthers’ weekend series against Barry helping Tech earn their first pair of conference wins and improve 8-5 on the season.

The freshman pitched 14.1 innings allowing just six hits, four walks, and no earned runs over three games.

Hendrian threw six innings, only allowing three hits and one run while walking three and striking out three in Friday’s loss. She then earned the save on Saturday throwing 1.2 innings, allowing one hit on 29 pitches.

In the final game of the series, Hendrian picked up the first complete game shutout of her career.

She allowed only two hits and one walk on two strikeouts as the Panthers concluded the series with a 1-0 win.

Hendrian’s complete game shutout was the first by a true freshman since Amanda Kahn’s against St. Thomas Aquinas on March 7, 2015.

The Panthers are back in action Tuesday, Feb. 22 traveling to St. Augustine for a doubleheader against Flagler College.
