BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech women’s rowing finds itself as one of the top teams in the country once again as they garnered a No. 3 national ranking on Wednesday when the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association released their annual preseason poll.

Head coach Adam Thorstad welcomes back nine scholar-athletes from his Spring 2021 squad that earned a third-place finish at the NCAA National Championships and its fourth-straight Sunshine State Conference Championship.

Highlighting the returning group for the Crimson & Gray is a pair of first-team All-Americans in Abbigale Smith and Liza Lutter.

Smith, the coxswain for the Varsity 8, commanded the respect of the shell while guiding them to many medal-winning finishes in 2021.

Lutter competed in the six-seat of the Varsity 8 and continues her ascent to the top of the sport.

Three-time defending national champions, the University of Central Oklahoma, was a near-unanimous pick to win its fourth consecutive national title. Joining Florida Tech were fellow SSC squads, Embry-Riddle (4) and Barry (7) while Rollins received points.

The Lady Panthers kick off the spring campaign on March 16th with a scrimmage against Stockton University.
