CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – Former Astronaut War Eagles, and current University of Illinois Chicago forward Jace Carter was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week.

Carter helped the Flames to a 2-1 week including a split of their final road trip of the regular season with three double-figure scoring performances.

The freshman began the week tying for a team-high with 12 points on 3-of-5 shooting with two 3-pointers against IUPUI on Monday.

He then opened the road trip with a career-high 17 points on career-best 6-made field goals, including five triples, while bringing in five rebounds at Youngstown State.

Carter backed up the performance with 16 points and seven rebounds in an overtime win at RMU. Carter once again finished 6-for-11 from the field but dominated the offensive glass.

Five of Carter’s seven rebounds came on the offensive side of the floor.

For the weekend, Carter averaged 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from the 3-point range.
