Law Enforcement Authorities Identify Suspect in Bomb Threats at Cocoa High School

Officers responded to three bomb threats at Cocoa High in the last three weeks

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Law enforcement authorities have identified a suspect who allegedly made a false bomb threat through a voice message on February 3 at Cocoa High School.

Charges against the suspect, whose name has not yet been released by authorities, are pending review by the State Attorney’s Office.

According to Cocoa Police officials, patrol officers have responded to three false bomb threats at Cocoa High School in the last three weeks.

“These incidents disrupted school function for several hours and unnecessarily used valuable police resources to clear each call,” said Cocoa Police officials in a release.

The latest threat was reported at 11:24 a.m. on Wednesday by an unknown caller.

“The Cocoa Police Department, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, and the Brevard County School District responded and spent several hours making sure the school was safe,” said Cocoa police officials.

“No explosive devices were located and the threat was not credible.”

On February 11, a similar call was made with the same results.

“The investigation revealed possible connections to false threats coming from outside the State of Florida and both cases were turned over to the FBI for follow-up,” said Cocoa police officials.

Making a false report about a bomb or explosive device or weapon of mass destruction is a 2nd degree felony in Florida and punishable by up to 15-years in prison if convicted.
