Melbourne police officers were on the scene of a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at Babcock Street and Silver Palm Avenue Tuesday morning at about 11:30 a.m. Melbourne police identified Jacqueline A. Haynes, 59, of Melbourne as the victim, and the driver as 32-year-old Melbourne man.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –  Melbourne police officers were on the scene of a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at Babcock Street and Silver Palm Avenue Tuesday morning at about 11:30 a.m.

Melbourne police identified Jacqueline A. Haynes, 59, of Melbourne as the victim, and the driver as 32-year-old Melbourne man.

According to the Melbourne police, officers discovered Haynes sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and the initial investigation revealed the driver was traveling north on Babcock Street and struck the victim.

Melbourne police officials said it appears alcohol or drugs are not a factor in this crash, and the incident is still under investigation.
