Merritt Island Man Dies After Suffering Medical Episode, Crashes Into Wall Off N. Courtenay Pkwy.

A 75-year-old Merritt Island man has died on Tuesday after he suffered a medical episode while driving his vehicle on N. Courtenay Pkwy. in Merritt Island.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – A 75-year-old Merritt Island man has died on Tuesday after he suffered a medical episode while driving his vehicle on N. Courtenay Pkwy. in Merritt Island.

Florida Highway Patrol says in their preliminary investigation that the man was traveling southbound on N. Courtenay Pkwy. around 12:20 p.m. when he suffered the medical episode which caused him to veer into the oncoming northbound lanes and crashing into a “small wall at the intersection of Merritt Avenue”, according to Cpl. Wenzel of the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man was taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
