ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Orlando City SC has signed Academy product Alex Freeman to a First Team Homegrown contract guaranteed through 2025 with a Club option in 2026.

Freeman becomes the 12th Homegrown Player in club history and the first to be inked to a deal this year.

“Alex is an exciting young player for us and another important example of hard work and dedication producing results,” said General Manager and EVP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi.

“Having him in the first-team group for training on a regular basis and the opportunity to get consistent minutes in MLS Next Pro should create a great environment for him to develop his game even further than he already has.”

A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Freeman made 30 appearances (28 starts) for the Academy’s U-17, scoring eight goals and providing 15 assists en route to the MLS Next Cup U17 Championship in 2021.

With the signing, Freeman is now the sixth Homegrown on the Lions’ current roster, joining defenders Michael Halliday and Thomas Williams, goalkeeper Mason Stajduhar, along with forwards Benji Michel and Wilfredo Rivera.
