Aspiration Academy Will Open University Park Elementary School in Melbourne

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Aspiration Academy Founder Bob Barnes announced that University Park Elementary School in Melbourne will be its first school in Brevard County.

Aspiration Academy is a nonprofit charity whose mission is to provide after-school mentoring and coaching primarily in reading and math.

Barnes has known and worked with the University Park Principal Ana Diaz for many years.

“As a passionate supporter of young students, Ms. Diaz welcomes this collaboration with an old friend and a mentoring program for above grade level students that will help revolutionize a portion of the education system,” said Barnes.

Aspiration Academy Founder Bob Barnes, above, said Aspiration Academy will provide extra attention, mentoring and coaching to young children from lower-income families that show intellectual prowess just as a child who shows athletic prowess would receive.  “Our mentoring and guidance will enhance the efforts already being provided so ably by the Brevard Public School System.,” said Barnes. Aspiration Academy students will be selected by the school staff and will be exposed to cultural events and field trips on weekends. This will be in addition to the powerful mentoring and coaching afforded Monday through Friday after regular school hours.

“Many of our students face enormous barriers; linguistic, cultural, and economic that place them at a disadvantage,” said Diaz.

“By joining with Aspiration Academy after regular school hours and on Saturdays our students will be provided opportunities to build their background knowledge through extra coaching, mentoring, field trips, and real-world connections.”

Aspiration Academy raises money locally with all funds distributed only in Brevard County.
