Brevard County Fire Rescue, Community Partners Seeking Candidates to Receive the Recruit Scholarship

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue is working in alliance with Brevard Public Schools and Eastern Florida State College to find candidates to receive the Brevard County Fire Rescue Recruit Scholarship.
The scholarship would provide you funding to attend the Eastern Florida State College Fire and EMS Academies.
This training would provide you with the minimum training required by the State of Florida to test for and attain the State of Florida Certification of compliance in Firefighting and Emergency Medical Technician certifications.
Once those two State of Florida certifications is successfully attained by you, you will then enter into employment with Brevard County Fire Rescue where you will begin by attending the New Hire Academy as a Firefighter/EMT.
There will be a selection process to receive a scholarship. The following criteria must be met to be considered for selection:
■ Candidate must be 18 years of age prior to registration with EMT/Fire Academy • Candidate must have maintained a 2.5 GPA and will receive a High School Diploma • Be of good moral character
■ Have a record clear of misdemeanors and felonies
■ Candidate must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
■ Be a non-user of tobacco products one year immediately preceding application for scholarship
■ Undergo and pass a medical physical examination
The following tasks must be met by the candidate to be considered for selection:
■ Complete and submit the scholarship application no later than the close of business on Wednesday, March 23rd.
■ Complete a Physical Ability Test (PAT)
■ Complete a 500-word essay introducing yourself, your accomplishments, and why you should be selected for this opportunity to work in the best profession in the world. Must be APA format.
