Florida Tech Lacrosse’s Rozgonyi, Hulsman Named Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week

Rozgonyi scored seven points on five goals and two assists
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After guiding the Panthers to a 2-0 record last week with wins over teams featured in the national polls, men’s lacrosse’s Zach Rozgonyi and John Hulsman have been named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.
The duo led Florida Tech to victories over No. 20 Colorado Mesa (16-15) and Saint Leo (19-13), who was receiving votes in the USILA poll last week.
Rozgonyi earns his second career player of the week nod, adding to the award he earned earlier this season on Feb. 14. He recorded 13 points on nine goals and four assists to go along with five ground balls and three caused turnovers to lead Florida Tech over the two games.
The Elkridge, Maryland product finished with six points on four goals and two assists, two ground balls and one caused turnover, including scoring the game-winning goal, in the Panther’s win over Mesa on Wednesday.
The sophomore then tallied seven points on five goals and two assists with three ground balls and two caused turnovers in Tech’s SSC opening win over Saint Leo on Saturday. His five goals were one short of the program’s single-game goals record.
Hulsman picks up his first career weekly award from the SSC following an impressive effort in between the pipes for Florida Tech making 29 saves with a .509 saves percentage.
The Westminster, Md. native posted a season-high 18 saves with a .545 saves percentage and five ground balls in Tech’s win over Colorado Mesa. His 18 saves against CMU are tied for fifth-most in the game in program history.
The graduate student then recorded 11 saves with a .458 saves percentage and three ground balls in the victory over SLU.
Florida Tech is back in action this Saturday, April 2 as the Panthers travel to Boca Raton for an SSC matchup with Lynn. The contest is set to begin at noon at Bobby Campbell Stadium.
