BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech softball’s Mikayla Lewin has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week.

This is the first career SSC Player of the Week award for the Lower Hutt, New Zealand native.

Lewin had an impressive offensive performance in the Panthers’ doubleheader against Emory & Henry and the weekend series against SSC-foe Palm Beach Atlantic to help Tech improve to 20-10 on the season and 6-6 in conference play.

The senior batted .667 with six runs, 12 RBI, four doubles, one homer, and one stolen base with an on-base percentage of .700 and slugging 1.113 over the five games. Defensively, the right fielder recorded 12 putouts in 12 chances.

Lewin went 5-7 with 10 RBI, three runs, two doubles, and one homer in the two-game sweep of the Wasps.

Her home run in game two was her fifth of the season. In a three-game set against the Sailfish, Lewin went 5-8 with three runs, two RBI, two extra-base hits, and one stolen base.

The Panthers are back in action at Nancy Bottge Field on Tuesday, March 15 to host Molloy at 3:30 p.m. and Kutztown at 6 p.m.
