OBITUARY: Avis Stanifer, 92, of Rockledge, Passed Away Feb. 22

Avis taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Spirit Riders

Avis (Flossie) Stanifer, of Rockledge, Florida went home to be with Jesus at the age of 92 on February 22, 2022. Avis will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 74 years, Kenneth C. Stanifer.

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Avis (Flossie) Stanifer, of Rockledge, Florida went home to be with Jesus at the age of 92 on February 22, 2022. Avis will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 74 years, Kenneth C. Stanifer.

Dear sister to Ralph Griffin and his wife, Lois. Cherished mother to Dennis Stanifer and his wife, Michelle, and Jeff Stanifer and his wife, Nancy. Beloved Mamaw to Sarah Stanifer, David Stanifer, Katrina Mourzine, Daniel Stanifer, Leah White, Jeffrey Stanifer, and Gabby Stanifer.

Avis had six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son, Kenneth R. Stanifer, and five siblings: Carl Griffin, Roy Griffin, Joe Griffin, Londy Griffin and Mary Lou Hatfield. Avis was born in Monroe, Michigan in 1929 and moved to Florida in 1957.

A founding member of the Cocoa First Church of the Nazarene, which later became Crossbridge Church of the Nazarene, Avis lived out loving Jesus and loving others. Her passion for knitting and crocheting became a service of love as she provided knitted dishcloths, baby blankets and baby bonnets to everyone who visited the church.

Avis taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Spirit Riders and was lovingly known as “Mama Avis” and “Granny Avis” to all those who adored her.

Family and friends will be received at Crossbridge Church (651 Barnes Blvd., Rockledge, FL 32955) on Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will take place directly afterwards at 3 p.m.
