OBITUARY: Lidia Rivero O’Dell, 92, of Cocoa Beach, Passed Away Peacefully March 6

Lidia had a magnificent voice and unforgettable presence and loved to entertain

Lidia Rivero O’Dell, 92, of Cocoa Beach, passed away peacefully, at her home on March 6, 2022, surrounded by her family. Lidia was born on November 8, 1929, in Valdevarnes, a suburb of Segovia, Spain, and lived through the Spanish Civil war which took place from 1936 – 1939.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Lidia Rivero O’Dell, 92, of Cocoa Beach, passed away peacefully, at her home on March 6, 2022, surrounded by her family. 

Lidia was born on November 8, 1929, in Valdevarnes, a suburb of Segovia, Spain, and lived through the Spanish Civil war which took place from 1936 to 1939.

The war-separated children from their parents and left the country financially devastated. She was reunited with her parents after the war ended and started working as a Flamenco dancer and singer to help support her family, in many different venues throughout Spain and Portugal beginning around the age of 16.

She had a magnificent voice and unforgettable presence and loved to entertain.

Her marriage at the age of 31, brought her to the United States where she became a U.S. citizen, and then went on to have three children, eventually settling in Cocoa Beach in 1972, after living in Brooklyn and Long Island, New York, for a number of years.

Lidia loved her family and taking care of them along with her home and garden, especially her garden, which was meticulously maintained.

She was devoted to her pet dogs, most recently Snoopy a Maltese Terrier who adored Lidia and was always by her side.

Lidia leaves behind her daughters Lidia in Cocoa Beach, and Carolina (Rick) in Orlando, plus a son, Michael (Linda) of Leesburg, Virginia, and her cherished grandson Everett, who lives in Orlando. She was warm, genuine, generous, and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

The funeral service will take place on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Our Saviour, Cocoa Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Francis Reflections Foundation at 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville, FL 32780.
