OBITUARY: Owner of Bob Barnes Trucking, Robert Kenneth Barnes, 87, Passed Away March 1

BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Robert Kenneth Barnes (Bob), 87, died March 1 after fighting a good fight with multiple health issues. Bob was born in Newark, New Jersey, and lived many years in Belleville, New Jersey before coming to Florida in 1984.

He joined the navy in his youth and served on the USS Miller and USS Rook. He was a truck driver by trade and owned his own trucking company Bob Barnes Trucking for many years.

He was a longtime resident of Atlantic Gardens Condominium and served as President of the board multiple times. Bob loved Florida, finding faith, prosperity, and friendship here but is now with “The Big Guy Upstairs” as he would’ve put it.

Bob is survived by his son Robert Barnes, daughter-in-law Michele and his grandchildren Thomas, Jennifer (her husband William Schaeffer), and Melissa Barnes. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan Barnes-Dixon but is survived by his grandson Daniel Dixon, whom he raised.

He is also survived by sisters Joan Petzel of Titusville, Fl, and Ann Barnes of Toms River, NJ. His 2 other sisters, Eleanor Rotunda of Las Vegas, NV, and Margorie Graffeo of Rockaway, NJ, predeceased him. He will be lovingly remembered by his dear friends Ken and Gail Santucci who sincerely made a difference in his life.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 11 at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 US-1 Cocoa, Fl. Viewing 12-2 p.m., Chapel 2 p.m., and Graveside Ceremony 2:30 p.m.

Bob was a consistent patron of St Jude’s Children’s Hospital for those who wish to make a donation. He would have wanted everyone to go out and enjoy a good meal and remember that the “The Big Guy Upstairs “is in control.
