Betty retired from the University of Maryland after 24 years working her way up from typist to office supervisor

Elisabeth Ann Saville “Betty”, 90, was born on November 24, 1931, in Washington, DC. She married Forrest K. Saville on September 8, 1951. Betty raised 6 children and was a Girl Scout leader in Riverdale, MD.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA –  Elisabeth Ann Saville “Betty,” 90, was born on November 24, 1931, in Washington, DC. She married Forrest K. Saville on September 8, 1951. Betty raised six children and was a Girl Scout leader in Riverdale, MD.

Betty retired from the University of Maryland after 24 years of working her way up from typist to office supervisor of 13 people. After retirement, Betty volunteered as a docent at the Riverdale Mansion in Riverdale, MD and after moving to Florida was a volunteer at the Enchanted Forest.

Betty had many hobbies; her love of nature, plants, and flowers could be seen in her beautiful gardens and the variety of plants and flowers that she nurtured. She also loved crocheting afghans, several kinds of embroidery, reading, and logic puzzles.

As a child, she had fond memories of seeing the Northern lights, going with her Dad to the sandpit, spending whole days playing in woods and fields behind her house, sliding down Cattail Hill on Greenbelt Road, sitting in trees and backyard reading, roller skating and ice skating on Calvert Mansion lake.

Betty was very proud of the family she raised, she loved to hear children laugh, loved seeing her children grow up into such good, caring adults, and to raise families of their own.

Betty had fond memories of spending time in West Virginia, vacations on the Outer Banks with family, spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and taking several trips with her sister, Ellen.

Betty went to her heavenly home on March 5, 2022, surrounded by family at her home in Cocoa, Florida at the age of 90. She was born November 24, 1931, in Washington DC to parents Lancelot and Virginia (Hetterly) Reid.

Loving mother of Sherry (Roger), Steven (Mary), David (Sheila), Sandra (Gary), Glenn (Tracey), Catherine (James), 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Lance and Raymond and sister, Ellen.

Predeceased by parents Lance & Virginia Reid, sisters Ruth & Joyce, daughters, Patricia & Susan, daughter-in-law Deborah, granddaughter Kate Elisabeth, and best friend Pat Madison.

Betty will be missed and in the hearts of all of the lives she touched.
