West Melbourne School for Science Evacuated Temporarily After Gas Line Break Scare in Nearby Construction Zone

West Melbourne School for Science has been cleared by Brevard County Fire and Rescue, along with the Environmental Health and Safety Team, after a gas line broke in a construction zone near the school’s campus and forced the school to be evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – West Melbourne School for Science has been cleared by Brevard County Fire and Rescue (BCFR), along with the Environmental Health and Safety Team, after a gas line broke in a construction zone near the school’s campus and forced the school to be evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

Officials say students and staff have since returned back to their classrooms to resume school operations after receiving clearance by BCFR.

BCFR is investigating the incident.

Nobody was injured as a result.
