Cocoa Beach Karate to Hold Free Self Defense and Assault Prevention Seminar April 22

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach Karate, in conjunction with the Cocoa Beach Police Department, will provide another free community service assault prevention and self-defense seminar for locals on Friday, April 22 at 5 p.m. at Cocoa Beach Health & Fitness.

Attendance is limited so RSVP is required by emailing SenseiDes@yahoo.com.

Attendees will be provided with information on how to avoid dangerous situations and shown some basic self-defense techniques to use in an emergency situation.

The seminar will be led by Sensei Des Chaskelson, a 6th-degree karate black belt with 35 years of karate training. Chaskelson founded Cocoa Beach Karate in 2002 and has been providing karate training for kids, teens and adults and families since then.

The Cocoa Beach Police Department will again be sending representatives from their community policing department to provide information and answer questions relating to assault prevention and safety issues.

“Karate training encompasses a wide spectrum of training and techniques which are directly applicable to avoiding conflict and assault prevention and self-defense. I’m this seminar we provide participants with the relevant information to reduce the risk of assault and show them how to use some basic self-defense techniques if needed,“ said Sensei Des Chaskelson.
