Eastern Florida State College Softball Hits Walk-Off Run to Sweep South Florida State College

Titans advance to an 18-18 overall record

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College softball team picked up a couple of Southern Conference wins Friday afternoon at Titan Softball Complex.

The Titans won the first game 8-3 and then Victoria Vasquez laced a base hit to center field to score Brooke Theisen in the bottom of the seventh inning to sweep South Florida State College.

In Game 1, South Florida State College took an early 2-0 lead but the Titans took advantage of a South Florida State College error to score three times in the third inning and then had three extra-base hits in the fourth including an RBI double by Kayla Domon and then a two-run triple by Theisen.

The Titans would add one more run in the sixth inning as Addi Lyle singled and would later score.

Makenzie Fore took over in the third inning and finished the game for her first career win, allowing three hits and striking out two.

Game 2 once again saw South Florida State College take an early lead, this time 4-0 in the third inning.

But once again the Titans would roar back as Domon singled, stole second, and scored on Theisen’s double in the bottom of the third. Then in the fifth inning, Vasquez drove in Courtney Stout to cut the lead to 4-2.

Then Lyle hit a two-run double to tie the game with two outs in the inning.

The game remained tied into the bottom of the seventh inning. Theisen led off with a single, then Fore singled to bring up Kaitlyn Wilson. Wilson singled, loading the bases for Vasquez who ended the game with another single.

Ariana Gonzalez came into the game in relief of Fore in the third inning and got out of a jam. The freshman would get out of trouble in the final three innings, finishing with her first win of the season.

Gonzalez induced 11 ground ball outs in her 4 1/3 innings of work.

The Titans, who are now 18-18 overall and 6-6 in the Southern Conference, will host Miami Dade College in a key conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex. Miami Dade comes into the contest 7-7 in the conference.
