How it works?

Galvus Met tablet combines 2 anti-diabetic medications, Metformin and Vildagliptin. Metformin is a diabetes drug belonging to the class of biguanides. The medicine acts by:

reducing the production of glucose in the liver

delaying the absorption of sugars from intestines and,

increasing the insulin sensitivity of the body. 

Vildagliptin belongs to the class of DPP-4 inhibitors. The medication acts by:

increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas and,

reducing the hormones that elevate the glucose levels. 

This lowers down the levels of both fasting and post-meal glucose. In combination, they offer an improved control of blood glucose.

Safety measures

■ Alcohol: It is not safe to have alcohol in combination with Galvus Met 50mg/500mg tablet.

■ Pregnancy: Galvus Met tablet might be not safe for usage during pregnancy. Even if there are not enough studies in humans, various animal studies have found detrimental effects on the developing baby.
