BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Joyce Arlene Corkran Hagan was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 3, 1938, to Royce and Margaret Corkran. Joyce passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

Joyce grew up in Arcadia, Florida, and married her high school sweetheart, Joel Hagan. Joel joined the Navy, and the newlyweds soon moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. Joyce and Joel spent several years in Hawaii, had 2 children, moved back to the Mainland, and settled back in Brevard County, Florida by the mid-1960’s, where they had 2 additional children. Joyce was a wife, homemaker, mother, and Avon Lady.

Joyce was described by those who knew her as a “true friend”, she was talkative, loved social activities, and never met a stranger. She loved her family (many kisses to Aunt Gayle and the Hagan clan!) and her friends as well as being an avid volunteer and giving back to the community.

Joyce was always ready to go out, go on a trip, or go on an adventure (warm hugs and heartfelt appreciation to Joan and Mac for their many adventures with Mom and Dad over the years!).

She had lifelong friends that she had known since 2nd grade and still kept in touch (sending much love to Kay and Nancy!).

Joyce had achieved 50 years as a member of her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, an international service and friendship sorority (huge shout out to all the wonderful sorority sisters!).

In addition, Joyce had been an active volunteer at the King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne for more than 40 years. She’s probably organizing luncheon socials right now and encouraging the angels to donate more to her favorite charities.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Joel. She is survived by her sister, Gayle Gillenburg of Arcadia, her four children; Traci Hagan, Diana Drummond, Tod Hagan, and Dr. Karla Hagan, as well as 5 grandchildren, 1.75 great-grandchildren, and many dear in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 9, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 South Hickory Street, Melbourne.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

She will be reunited with her husband Joel at a committal service to be held at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Arcadia, FL on Monday, April 11, at 1 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joyce’s name to the South Brevard Sharing Center or to Green Gables. Or as Joyce would often do, drop off some prepackaged snacks to your local Fire Department or Police Station and let them know they are gifts from Joyce.
