Officials in Brevard County announced Tuesday morning that the Mathers Bridge, connecting south Merritt Island and Indian Harbour Beach, has mechanically failed in a position that prevents vehicular traffic.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Officials in Brevard County announced Tuesday morning that the Mathers Bridge, connecting south Merritt Island and Indian Harbour Beach, has mechanically failed in a position that prevents vehicular traffic.

The County is working on the repair.

Until then, all vehicular traffic that would normally use the bridge will need to detour to the Pineda Causeway.
