BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department recognized longtime volunteer Bob Williams with April’s VCOP Spotlight.
Williams has spent most of his life behind the wheel. In fact, it was a car, one of our Citizens Patrol cars driving around Palm Bay, that caught his eye and piqued his curiosity to check out the VCOP program.
That was 2010 and he has been an active member ever since.
Since then, Williams has been a regular on patrol. A jack-of-all-trades, Bob has also driven PBPD Command Post, worked the Front Desk, managed the VCOP fleet, trained new VCOP patrol volunteers, provided traffic support for special events, and assisted in VCOP Administration.
For his willingness to support the Palm Bay Police Department in any manner he could, Williams was recognized as VCOP of the Year in 2015 and 2017.
His family includes his wife, two daughters, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Before moving to Florida he was a AAA contractor with his car-towing business in Massachusetts.
Now, in his spare time, he’s an UBER driver, which helps him to learn about his city.
If you would like to become a VCOP like Bob, send an email to VCOP@palmbayflorida.org or call 321-953-8987.
