BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Spacecoast Associates for the Advancement of Zymurgy, is proud to announce the 10th Annual Bottoms Up Beer Run.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 4 at 6 p.m. at Wickham Park. This unique 4K race combines running (or walking) with homebrew along the way.

Brewers from SAAZ will be providing different beers and cider for enjoyment along the course.

Dirty Oar Beer Company is the presenting sponsor and plans to be at the event pouring samples for the runners to enjoy. Proceeds from the run will support SAAZ and St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

“Over the last 9 years, we’ve raised over $38,000 to fund childhood cancer research,” said event organizers.

“SAAZ is Brevard County’s Homebrew Club. We meet monthly, usually on the third Sunday of the month at area breweries/craft beer-centric venues.”

If “Will Run/Walk for Beer” is your motto, this race will fulfill your goal. Participants may drink a beer shot to toast the start of the race, a beer shot every 1 K, and a full beer at the end of the race. One does not have to drink beer to participate and children are welcome to enter this fun race. (SAAZ image)

Water and snacks are also available to runners. The race is capped at 400 entrants and race t-shirts and bottle opener medals are provided to registrants.

The requested t-shirt size is guaranteed only if runners register by May 16.

Beer-related costumes are encouraged with prizes, raffles, and awards to the participants.

Brewers from SAAZ (Spacecoast Associates for the Advancement of Zymurgy) will provide five different homebrews for consumption along the course.

Those runners under 21 cannot consume the beer but can still join in the fun. Water is also available along the racecourse as well.

The race is professionally timed by the Running Zone so serious runners can race their way on the course to achieve their personal best or be among the more laid back racers who want to take their time sipping along the wooded pathway and laugh at how long it took to do a 4 K in the park.
