BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The third annual Brevard County Law Enforcement and First Responder Appreciation Day and Bar-B-Que will be held Sunday, May 1 at Veterans Memorial Park in Merritt Island to show support and appreciation to those who risk their lives to protect ours.

The event is in partnership with Miller & Hurt Wealth Advisors and will run from 11 am to 3 pm at Veterans Memorial Park in Merritt Island, located at 400 S Sykes Creek Pkwy.

“We are inviting all law enforcement, EMT and firefighters to come out and bring their families to have a free meal and enjoy outdoor games for children and let our local community businesses thank them and show them the support they deserve,” said Tina Herman of Triangle Auto on Merritt Island.

The event is open to everyone.

First Responders are invited to come enjoy the day with their families as well as the entire community!

All food and activities are free.

Donations from community members are appreciated as those funds will go to support the event and other appreciation efforts throughout the year.

The idea for the event for a community Bar-B-Que to honor law enforcement and first responders began two years ago with a discussion by Jennifer Parrish of 321 Closing on the Merritt Island Community News & Info Facebook page and then citizens posted about doing something supportive and positive for our dedicated local first responders.

Adding to the excitement will be a display of law enforcement and first responder equipment, and a contingent of Brevard’s outstanding K9s will also be on hand to educate the public.
