BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Brevard County, Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, Brevard County TRIAD, and Brevard Commission on Aging are set to host the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day event at Wickham Park on June 15.

People sometimes fail to acknowledge there are many social issues that allow older members of our society to be abused or neglected.

Our older people are vital, contributing members of American society and their maltreatment diminishes all of us.

We have confronted and addressed many other social issues that affect members of our community, and we need to find solutions to address issues like elder abuse.

Nationally, World Elder Abuse Awareness Day will be observed on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Activities include vendors, law enforcement, and senior services providing educational information; a Walk Down Memory Lane to view scenes from the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s; and educational seminars – Dr. Visa at 9:30 a.m. presenting the benefits of early Alzheimer’s detection and Detective Hamilton at 11 a.m.presenting on the latest elder abuse scams.
