City of Palm Bay to Host Introduction to Fossil Hunting on Saturday, May 21

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA –Join the City of Palm Bay on Saturday, May 21 at the Turkey Creek Sanctuary for Introduction to Fossil Hunting. The class is open to all ages and the cost is $10 per person.

Students should meet at the Nature Center no later than 2 p.m. The class will consist of approximately one hour of classroom discussion on the tools and techniques used in fossil hunting.

The second hour of class will be spent examining various vertebrate fossils that were collected in Florida.

An optional field trip to the Peace River (town of Arcadia) will be planned and discussed during class time. The field trip will be led by Mark Renz, a world-renowned field guide and expert in Florida fossils. Information regarding date, time, and cost will be discussed in class.
