The operating systems we use today are much more advanced than they used to be. Though previously, it was more of a necessity to have third-party antivirus programs and VPN services for your device’s safety, today, it seems like a waste of money.

The reason is the intelligent operating systems found in today’s devices. Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS have built-in virus and malware protection settings. The system is good enough to automatically detect a virus or malware and delete it right away, keeping your system safe and sound.

But, as they say, there’s always room for improvement, and you can never be too secure. Therefore, using an antivirus and VPN service is a safe option and not a waste of money.

Can We Avoid Buying Antivirus or VPN Today?

Do we really need an antivirus or VPN for Windows or any other OS today? Can we not save a bit of cash and depend on the built-in security of our devices? The answer to these questions depends on the OS you are using.

With technological advancements and the development of better-operating systems, techniques of harming users by interfering with their devices have also evolved. If you are using the internet without using any security, you are welcoming numerous threats from hackers, cybercriminals, etc.

Why Do We Need Antivirus Today?

Need for Antivirus in Windows OS

If you are a Windows OS user, using an antivirus is a necessity. The reason is the wide range of downloading and browsing options you can look forward to. Though Windows provides a lot of ease to its users, the system is more likely to receive a security breach.

If you are using Windows 10 on your desktop or laptop, you already have a dedicated software, Windows Defender. Just enable it from your settings, and you are good to go. Windows Defender Antivirus protects your device against malware, viruses, and phishing websites. And it also takes control of your windows security system, including Windows firewall.

Androids and Antivirus

The case with Android phones is similar to windows related to antivirus. It too allows its users to download from multiple resources and access numerous settings. Also, adding an application to the PlayStore isn’t very difficult. This is why getting a third-party antivirus application is necessary for them too.

Need for Antivirus in MacOs and iOS

Apple devices are a lot safer compared to Windows and Android devices. The reason is the limited access it gives to its users. Talking about macOS, you only have the option to download resources from the Apple Store. Suppose you try to install or download anything from the internet with a security threat; in that case, the system denies access immediately.

No malicious application can make its way to AppStore, and browsing on dedicated Apple browsers is safer. Therefore, getting an antivirus is unnecessary but is definitely a safe option.

This, though, limits the access and authority of the user but is the best way of keeping your device and personal information stored on it safe from online threats.

Why do We Need a VPN Today

Every device that can be connected to the internet has a unique IP address. This IP address is displayed to the servers whose websites we access. The IP address has a limited amount of information about the device, its users, and the device’s location. A VPN is used to keep their online activity safe from malicious websites and hackers.

VPN encrypts the user’s IP address and makes it untraceable. Your online activity cannot be tracked, and your device remains safe from cyber attacks. Not only this, but a VPN also allows users to unblock websites blocked in their region. A VPN is essential irrespective of the OS you use.

Though all operating systems come with a built-in VPN system, still a large number of users prefer buying a third-party VPN for windows. The reason is that the built-in VPNs can only be used to create a private network. Whereas third-party VPNs have multiple options and are very effective in keeping the user’s identity confidential. It protects your location from being tracked by any server or hacker worldwide. Similarly, your online activity and data cannot be stolen if you are using the internet after connecting to a VPN server.
