BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College catcher Drew Cavanaugh has been named the Region 8 Gold Glove recipient at catcher.

The Rochester Hills, Michigan native caught 37 games for the Titans this season with 257 putouts and no errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage.

The sophomore also threw out 22 runners stealing on him which is first in the state and fifth in the nation. Cavanaugh finished the season throwing out 66 percent of those runners which is the best among starting catchers in both the state and nation.

Cavanaugh was named second-team All-State last week and was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year as well as a first-team all-conference player.
