Melbourne Police Request Community’s Help in Identifying Driver Who Fled the Scene of Hit-and-Run Crash

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department is asking for the community’s help after they responded to a reported vehicle crash on Sunday involving  a pedestrian on Hibiscus Boulevard, just east of the intersection of Hibiscus Boulevard and Evans Road at 1800 Hibiscus Boulevard in front of the Oaks Plaza/Oaks Theatre around 1:52 a.m.

According to Melbourne Police Sgt. Daniel Desormier, the initial investigation revealed an unknown colored (possibly black), four-door hatchback Chevrolet Spark 2020 model year was traveling westbound on Hibiscus Boulevard when it struck a male pedestrian in the roadway.

“The male pedestrian suffered significant injuries, and the vehicle fled the scene westbound on Hibiscus Boulevard towards Evans Road prior to law enforcement’s arrival,” said Sgt. Desormier.

“There appears to be significant damage to the front driver’s side area of the vehicle, which includes a missing black colored driver’s door outside mirror.”

The suspect vehicle will also have front windshield damage on the driver’s side, police say.

The vehicle and driver have not been located.

The Melbourne Police Department is requesting assistance in identifying the vehicle owner and/or driver.
